Ideally, we all want everything to be perfect. We fantasize about being in a perfect world where everything will be perfect. A world where all our pains and sorrows will not exist, where only joy and happiness rule the hearts of men. Our hearts yearn for anything other than the chaos of this world.
Because we fantasize about a perfect world, we unconsciously try to simulate a perfect life. We strive to make everything about us perfect. But this is a battle we cannot win because this world we are in is not perfect and will never be. The best we can do is to do the best we can with the grace of God.
The only perfect Being is God and it is from Him that we draw the strength to be the best we can be. When we strive to be perfect, we are engaging in self-effort which is against God's will. It is not our job to be perfect. All we need to do is to draw nearer to God and He will keep releasing the needed strength to succeed day by day. Perfection is of God.
