Thomas Jefferson was one of the prominent founding fathers of American
history. He saw Jesus not as a distinct divine being but rather as a sage. He
thus cut out the portions of the Gospels where Jesus' miracle works were and
only left His wise sayings. This becomes known as the Jefferson Bible.
Jefferson came, did what he cares to do and is now gone but the ball has been passed to us - you and I. Now, the question is, 'how do you see Jesus?' Is your view about Him captured in the totality of His being or are you like Mr Jefferson who is only interested in a part of Him?
Seeing Jesus as our friend (He will always be) will not suffice. Seeing
Him as our Healer, provider etc is also not enough. We must always see Him as
our Lord to whom we owe all. As His servant, His will must be our food. Taking
one part at the expense of the other will never suffice. Take the whole of HIM.
