In teaching the cost of discipleship, Jesus emphasised the need for an intentional effort to follow Him. The implication of this is that if you truly want to be a Christian, if you are genuinely interested in what Christ represents, you need to first remove all sentiment and don your wisdom cap.
You must first sit down and take stock of what it entails to be a Christian. The reason why the world is full of wishy-washy Christians today is due to the fact that they were not taught the cost of discipleship. For Christ to do anything for you, there is a need for your commitment and dedication; you don't get to be lukewarm. You need to build up your spiritual muscles so you can journey with Him. The Christian race is laborious, contrary to what you have heard or been taught; you need spiritual strength, which the Holy Spirit can supply if you are serious. Spiritual fitness is a necessity if you are aiming for God's Kingdom!
