You must have heard the saying that it costs nothing to be nice. Yes, it does not cost you anything to show kindness to others. In this present world, kindness is a word that is dying a slow death. We no longer feel the need to be kind to others especially when we are paying for services. When payment is involved, we feel the need to lord it over others, after all, we are paying them.
Such habit is not for a normal human being. A normal human being will put himself if the other person's shoes and think if the tables were turned, would he appreciate such treatment. Have you seen the way some treat their menial staff? Have you witnessed the way some talk to 'ordinary market people'? Sometimes, I wonder where the fear of God is in the hearts of men.
Being kind is an act of self discipline because when you exhibit this trait, you are abiding by the golden rule which states that you are to do unto others the way you want them to do to you. If we all are serious about the golden rule, crime rates and other social vices will become non-existent. It is just unfortunate that we are ruining this world because we are not disciplined! The change can start with you and ME...
