ADVICE

It is easy when in prosperity to give advice to the afflicted said Aeschylus. When we are perched atop our balcony of ease, it is very easy to send down advice to the man swimming against the tides of life. Come to think of it, is that what is needed at that time?

There is time for everything says the Holy Book. There is thus the time to give advice and the time to act. When you see someone in distress, what they need is not your advice but your support, your help. Your advice at that time may not mean much. What advice do you want to give an hungry man?

The only thing they need then is food. After feeding them, you can proffer further assistance. Most of us have perfected the art of giving words of advice instead of lending a hand. There is a reason why God called that a Perfect and undefiled religion.  Keep your advice for later, lend a hand as at when needed. It will save a life...
