David managed to become a man of influence by virtue of RELATIONSHIP. His life story necessitated his forming a strong relationship with God. Being born out of wedlock, he was relegated to the wilderness to tend 'few' sheep. With no one to talk to, he must have drawn near to God who in return drew nearer to him.
Friend, it matters not what your back story is. It matters not the rejection or condemnation of men. It matters not that you are nowhere to be found in the sphere of men's agenda, what matters is that you find God in that little corner you are. Finding God turned David a forsaken nonentity to a man of influence. If you want to jet out of obscurity, go and do same.
