Queen Elizabeth II of blessed memory was one
remarkable woman. Having gotten to the throne by nothing but providence, she
was blessed to live a life that millions envied. There are lots of perks
attached to her office one of them being that she could start a war! Wow!!! Her
influence in our generation cuts across different strata but to everything that
has a beginning, surely there is an end.
The end came for this woman not just the day she
died but when what made her 'the queen' i.e. the symbols of sovereignty (the Sceptre, Orb,
and Imperial State Crown) was taken away from her casket and returned to the 'Altar of God'. At
that moment, she was no longer the queen but rather Sister Elizabeth. See where
this is going?
One thing we can take from this is that there
are things we have been loaned by God and one day be returned. It was said that
she would be buried as a simple Christian. Why don't we not only plan to be
buried as one but rather live as one. Christ modelled the perfect example which
in the simplest term is LOVE. Let us live a life worthy of Him because one day,
no matter how superb our lives are today, we will become 'simple' and then will
have to face our Maker to give account...
