The story is told of these three individual objects that personify human character under duress. These objects are eggs, potatoes, and coffee. It is said that these three objects were dropped into boiling water, and their reaction is baffling. The soft Egg became hard, the hard potato became soft, and the coffee changed the structure of the water altogether.
Everybody is entitled to be under duress at least once in their lifetime. What you allow to happen to you in that situation will determine your inner self. When confronted with difficult situations, some become very hard or very soft. This means that their personalities changed. They either give up or become evil.
Jesus came to show us a better way. When He faced His difficult times, He did not allow what was happening around Him to change who He was; rather, He changed everything around Him. He influenced the idolatrous system of His time and birthed Christianity. Today, we are beneficiaries, and He is asking us to do the same. When confronted with difficult times, ask the Holy Spirit for ways in which you can glorify God.
