Who are the worshippers? The true worshippers? This question is pertinent because these ones are dear to God's heart. Jesus told the disciples that God was looking for these people (John 4:23). The search for them denotes their scarcity, yet we (believers) tend to think we are the true worshippers. A worshipper transcends a believer.
There are many people who "believe" but do not worship. God Himself complains that these people draw close to him with their mouths but their hearts are far from him. Being a worshipper is even beyond being a praise leader. Singing to God is awesome, but worshipping Him is beyond singing praise and worship. Being a worshipper entails full surrender to God.
It is the willingness to acknowledge that we have been created not for ourselves but solely to give pleasure to God. It is the willingness to surrender one's totality to God. It is the readiness to declare, "Oh, God, Thy will be done!" Those are the true worshippers, and they are in need. Step up from being a believer to being a worshipper. James 2:24 (CEV) says, we please God by what we do and not only by what we believe.
