GOOD PEOPLE DON'T GO TO HEAVEN

Once upon a time, Jesus had a discussion with a man who called Him 'good' Master but immediately He corrected the young man that the only 'Good One' is our Father in heaven. Is this to say that Christ is not good? God forbid, He is the best, but He wanted to teach us a lesson.

Our idea of being good is based on our self-effort—what we can do by ourselves, not what we are equipped to do. Self-effort is a major problem we face today. People now feel they do not need God to get anything done. On the contrary, it is in Him that we live, move, and have our being.

Thus, our desire to journey to heaven must be predicated on the knowledge that there is nothing we can do on our own to guarantee this. What to do is to rely solely on His grace. Even Jesus in the flesh relied on the Father to get things done. Good people don't go to heaven; only believers in Christ do. Those who believe in God through Christ and the Holy Spirit.
