C. S. Lewis, the revered British theologian, and philosopher, declared that there are two kinds of people: those who say to God, "Thy will be done'' and those to whom God says, "All right then, have it your way." These two statements are self-explanatory. Now, where do you belong?
Are you one of those whose will is lost in Christ, or are you one of those who try to impose their will upon God? You see, God, as our Father, is so loving that He will never tamper with our will. He wants us to willingly do things with Him, so He does not impose on us but rather gently makes His will known to us and expects us to follow through.
Thus, if He wants something from you, the right attitude must be, "Father, it is Your will, not mine." Do not force God to do things according to your will; it never works out well (ask Hezekiah). Trust that He knows what He is doing. We are closer to God when our prayer is made in the spirit of "THY WILL NOT MINE BE DONE!"
Read Matthew 6 for clarity.
