ON SIGNIFICANCE

Right from a young age, we were taught to stand out, to do our best, and not only that, to be the best. We were encouraged to stand out from the crowd and, if possible, lead the crowd. Yes, from a young age, we have been programmed to fight for the spotlight, and when the light does not shine on us, there is a problem. People jostle and hustle desperately these days to be "seen."

They strongly desire to be in the limelight, and while this is somewhat good, it is not always the best. Sometimes, prominence is not significance. Yes, being out there, up front, does not make one impactful. Most times, the most impactful people are the ones in the background. If you desire to be up on the stage, if that is your wish, by all means get up there, but make sure the spotlight does not blind you out of significance.

You must ensure that your prominence is of utmost importance. The Bible tells us that there are some parts of our bodies that are hidden but have more significance than our exposed parts. For instance, what can you do without your heart or brain? But people survive without eyes, legs, and hands. If you crave prominence, that is great, but please make it significant.

Read 1 Corinthians 12 for more.
