In Matthew 8, it is recorded that a highly placed, well-to-do man left his position as a leader to seek the assistance of Jesus concerning one of his servants who lay paralyzed at home. Such stories would have been hard to believe if they had not been written down.
The centurion did not even send another servant like many would have done, but he went on his own for a servant. Many Christ followers today are good readers of the Bible but poor doers of its teachings. There are many so-called believers who maltreat their "servant" to the point of death. They don't want to save; they would rather kill.
There are lots of negative news, stories on how people ("Christians" inclusive) treat people who are in their service. Their being in your service does not make you their lord; God is the Lord of all. By taking care of them like your own, you are rendering a service to God. God is not interested in our status. He cares only about how we serve one another. Let us learn to treat whoever is in our care very well. It is a service to God.
