In the beginning, God created man. Unlike every other creation, He said, "Let us create someone in our image." What is the image of God? To avoid theological issues, we will simply say that the image of God is not necessarily His physical attribute but His spiritual dimension. We have read that God is love. There are other things that He is, but the one that affects us the most is His love.
God's love for us is perfect and complete. What started in the Old Testament as a failure continued in the New Testament as a success because God loves and cares for the creatures created in His image. Love as an attribute of God is part of our spiritual genetic makeup. We have the capacity to dispense love, first to God and then to others. It is an innate ability.
Armed with this knowledge, we are to go back to the drawing board to review our relationship with God and others. Christians have a responsibility to love. Regardless of circumstances, love is a command. As we journey through life, let's not lose sight of the opportunity to love. We are created in God's image, not the devil's. If God can love us despite our ways, we must reciprocate. "Love is the fulfillment of the law."
