Every single one of us has a chair. It is a favourite piece of our furniture, and it is so special that we practically do not allow anyone near it. That chair is a rocking chair and sits comfortably in our heads. A wise man or woman once opined that worrying is like a rocking chair; while it gives you something to do, it takes you nowhere.
Yes, when you choose to worry about your challenges, you might be doing something, albeit the wrong thing. Do you know that it will take the same amount of energy you are investing in worrying to pray about your situation? God has not created us to be 'worrying beings." We are 'thinking beings and He would rather we become 'praying beings'. Worry is a health destroyer. When we worry, the probability of becoming ill is very high.
Instead of sitting in our mental rocking chair, let us get on our knees and ask for God's help. It may seem easy to worry, but I bet the consequences are far-reaching. It affects your health, sours your relationships with others, and, at the end of the day, does not solve the problem. On the flip side, praying will help put the problems in perspective so you can know how to proceed. Which is better?
