Everyone of us followers of God desires above all things to be loved by God. We go to Him like needy children in need of loving validation all the time, and He never disappoints. He dispenses His love upon us more than we ever deserve, but have we ever taken a step back to consider the thought that God too could be loved by us?
All the time, we profess our undying love to Him, especially when things are rosy. We declare our everlasting love to Him when He meets our needs, but balk when He says no or is taking His time to answer us. Friend, look at it from this perspective: love is unconditional. God loves us regardless of our failings, and the least we can do when He is not doing all our bidding is to keep loving Him.
God is not looking for fair-weather children. He desires children that will keep loving Him even if their desires are not met. He desires children whose will is lost in His. He wants children who are willing to say, "Even though He slays me, I will trust Him." These are the true lovers of God. It is good to live with God on the mountain, but can you keep the same energy in the wilderness?
