We live in a world where we celebrate gifts. We beg God to give us, and we get angry when what we are expecting men to give us is not forthcoming. Not paying mind to the fact that the Bible says it is better to be the giver than the receiver, we feel entitled most of the time. This attitude has been the death of many great relationships.
Life does not answer to "give me," it answers to "make me." God said, "Let us make man." Jesus said, "I will make you..." Making is far better than giving. If you are confronted with the choice of being given one million dollars or being made a millionaire, please choose the latter. Life answers to process, and while giving is instant, making takes time, but it is worth it.
Failure to wait to be made is the bane of this generation. Our youth want what they want, and they want it now. Lots of atrocities are being committed because people have not learned to wait. The prodigal son said, "Give me," but when he came to his senses, he said, "Make me." The thing is, God is more interested in making us than in giving us. You can forever lose what is given but what you made can be gotten back quickly. Focus more on being made than being given. Delayed gratification is beautiful.
