One of the figurative expressions that resonates with me is that which says, "Out of sight, out of mind." It basically connotes the fact that if something is not in your immediate environment, you are likely not to be mindful of it. Its essence is for us to keep what is very important to us very close to us. It must be so close that we are not at any risk of losing it.
While pursuing life, we are likely to forget about God. This is not a judgment call; we are all, at one point or another, guilty of this. If we are not intentional about our relationship with God, we are apt to forget Him. In fact, the easiest thing to forget in this fallen world is God. Adam, the first man, found himself in a situation where he forgot God's commandment.
It was in a bid to help us not forget the most important thing in our lives that made the Psalmist pen the timeless words about setting the Lord before him always. There is a need for everyone of us to "set" the Lord before us where we can see Him so that the circumstances of life will not move Him and consequently us away. If God is not intentionally set before you, you definitely be moved by the challenges of life. Keep God in your line of sight, and everything will fall into place, accordingly.
